(Cortes Island, British Columbia) from development as a marina

Squirrel Cove
Image information
For 100 years, many thousands of boaters have been enjoying this very special anchorage.

In many books and articles, boaters talk of the peace, quiet and natural beauty of the area. Squirrel Cove is part of the Desolation Sound experience.

Boaters also repeatedly talk of the safety of this anchorage, and its proximity to supply points such as the Squirrel Cove dock and store, and Refuge Cove on West Redonda Island.

For those who wish to join in the hustle and bustle of a busy marina, there are other well established marinas in the area. Boaters anchor in Squirrel Cove because of its safety, beauty, peace and tranquility.

In March 2011, the Klahoose Resort Limited Partnership (KFN) applied for a large water lease in Squirrel Cove for a marina/resort. This application covered about ninety-six per-cent of the navigable water area in the cove.
